Inspired by Nature
History of the world has been a constant negotiation between progression and conservation, between development and preservation. As our society increasingly values efficiency and profitability over sustainability, this delicate dance has unfortunately been broken down. The paradise that we all depend on is slowly vanishing and various unintended environmental consequences increases.
My work reflects on this paradoxical relationship between advancement of civilisation and the simultaneous destruction of nature. I intentionally avoid using scientific datas or documentary imageries, which often provoke guilt, shame or fear. My work allows public to engage the hot-topic through a different lens. In my compositions, I address our bold disruptive operating mode of human development. Using different art medium as a laboratory ground, the quest is to find an ideal balance of space and rhythm, density and ratio between nature and human construct, in search for a solution in which they can coexist, in harmony and aesthetically.

Day & Night Paintings 2019
My work is an ongoing investigation on our current circumstances - my personal attempt and experiment in restoring the broken equilibrium. Combining organic and geometric shapes to create tension-filled compositions, I capture and reflect the present.
The organic shapes on canvas form an idyllic atmosphere signifying the unpredictability and the raw power of nature, while the highly precise and controlled geometric objects symbolise human-construct, which are heavy and embody the reckless attitude of society towards our fragile environment. Subtle Annihilation would ultimately lead to a kind of undiscovered balance where nature can be once again accentuated in everyone’s life.
